Thijs Becker
Thijs Becker is co-founder and chief operating officer of Orion Grid Technologies, a role he has held since October 2025. He is based in Maaseik.
From October 2021 to December 2025 he worked at VITO as an R&D professional. Before that he spent his career at Hasselt University, first as a PhD student from October 2011 to May 2015 and then as a postdoctoral researcher from June 2015 to October 2021.
He obtained his PhD in physics at Hasselt University between 2011 and 2015, having previously completed a Master of Science in physics at KU Leuven from 2009 to 2011 and a Bachelor of Science in physics at Hasselt University from 2006 to 2009. He attended Virga-Jessecollege from 2000 to 2006.
