Tine Schaerlaekens

Tine Schaerlaekens is Managing Director of Catalisti, a role she took up in January 2024. She is based in Brussels.

She spent more than a decade at essenscia, joining in June 2010 as project leader for BioChem and Eco2Chem before becoming advisor for renewables and biotechnology in March 2012, senior advisor on innovation policy in August 2015, and director of innovation from April 2021 until December 2023. In parallel, from March 2012 to March 2021, she worked as a catalyst at Catalisti.

Earlier she was a project leader at VIB in the first half of 2010. Her career began at KU Leuven, where she was a PhD student from August 1999 to April 2003 and then a researcher until December 2009. She studied biotechnology at KU Leuven, gaining a Master of Engineering in 1999.
