
Tom Francart
Tom Francart is a co-founder of brainphonics, which he started in September 2024, and is based in Leuven. Since December 2024 he has also been a strategic advisor to ALICE App. His stated areas of expertise are creativity and innovation, machine learning, business development, creative problem solving and medtech.
He has been a professor at KU Leuven since October 2022, having held positions there as associate professor from October 2018 to February 2023 and as assistant professor from October 2013 to September 2018. He was a postdoctoral researcher at the same university from 2008 to September 2013, and between 2010 and 2012 he worked as a scientist at The Bionics Institute.
Francart studied electrical engineering at KU Leuven, completing a master's degree in 2004, and stayed on as a PhD researcher from October 2004 to November 2008, obtaining a doctorate in hearing technology. He attended SALCO from 1993 to 2000.
