
Tom Vermeulen is a founder of Klassif.ai, a Leuven-based AI classification platform.
Tom Vermeulen is a founder based in Leuven. Since September 2023 he has been managing partner and head of operations at Raccoons, and since August 2020 a founding partner of Klassif.ai. In November 2018 he founded Brainjar, where he remains managing partner.
Before that he worked as a solution engineer at Proximus from September 2017 to November 2018. He completed a PhD in electrical engineering at KU Leuven, carrying out doctoral research there from September 2013 to August 2017, and spent the first months of 2016 as a visiting research scholar at UCLA. In January 2015 he founded TechStart, acting as its coordinator and student coach until August 2017.
He chaired the board of directors of Sagio.be VZW from 2014 to 2015, having previously been an IT board member of Sagio.be. Earlier he interned as an application engineer at National Instruments and served as its student ambassador, took part in the Best Student Recognition Event 2012 at IBM, and worked as an assistant coordinator at Carrefour between 2008 and 2011.
Vermeulen holds bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees in electrical engineering from KU Leuven, and studied science and mathematics at Sint-Ursula-Instituut.
