TLDR

Immoweb is Belgium's leading online real estate Marketplace, founded in 1996 in Brussels and acquired by Axel Springer in 2012.

Overview

Immoweb was founded in 1996 in Brussels and became Belgium's dominant online real estate platform. In November 2012, Axel Springer Digital Classifieds, a joint venture between Axel Springer and General Atlantic, acquired an 80% stake in Immoweb for approximately USD 163M, making it one of the notable Belgian proptech exits.

Immoweb subsequently continued to grow under Axel Springer and is today a subsidiary of the AVIV Group. In 2021 it acquired Realo to strengthen its market position.
