TLDR

Realo was a Ghent-based real estate data and transparency platform founded in 2014 by the StarApps founders, acquired by Immoweb (AVIV Group) in January 2024.

Overview

Realo was founded in 2014 by Lorenz Bogaert, Toon Coppens, Nicolas Van Eenaeme, and Vincent Verlee, who are also the founders of the startup studio StarApps (previously known for Massive Media / Netlog / Twoo). The platform specialized in real estate data analysis and property valuation, offering detailed estimation reports on properties and neighborhoods across Belgium.

Realo positioned itself as a transparency platform in the Belgian real estate market, giving buyers, sellers, and agents access to data-driven property insights. The company grew alongside Belgium's proptech ecosystem.

In January 2024, Immoweb, Belgium's leading real estate portal and part of the AVIV Group (Axel Springer), acquired Realo. The deal brought Realo's data and appraisal capabilities into the Immoweb platform. The AVIV Group already owned major real estate portals across Europe including SeLoger (France), Immowelt (Germany), and Yad2 (Israel).
