Overview

itsme provides a mobile-based digital identity used by millions of Belgian consumers to log in to banking, government, and private-sector services, sign documents, and confirm transactions. The app links a verified identity to a smartphone, replacing card readers and one-time-password tokens for a wide range of online flows.

The service has become a default identity layer in Belgium, integrated into government portals, financial institutions, insurers, telcos, and many consumer platforms. itsme is operated by Belgian Mobile ID, a consortium founded in 2017 by Belgium's four leading banks (Belfius, KBC, BNP Paribas Fortis, ING) and three mobile network operators (Telenet, Proximus, Orange). In 2025, itsme surpassed eight million users in Belgium, completed European expansion across all 27 EU states, and acquired Dutch identification service iDIN.
