JobRunr 8.7.0 is out, and the theme this time is "get out of your way."
For years we shipped starters for Spring, Quarkus, and Micronaut. But every now and then someone runs JobRunr on something else, and the Fluent API made that harder than it should have been: it started the servers the moment you configured them, before your container was ready, and never handed you the objects back.
So we made server startup lazy. JobRunr now creates and starts the Background Job Server and Dashboard on initialize(), and gives you direct handles to both. You decide when they start and stop, in step with your framework's own lifecycle. We wrote a guide for it too.
Small thing I personally love: the dashboard now follows your system theme. Dark mode if your OS is in dark mode. 🌙
