Clear communication starts with thoughtful design. For Blok M, the new hospital wing at AZ Herentals, BIG BEAR Studio helped transform a clear vision into a welcoming and intuitive healthcare environment. Through a very close and constructive partnership with Liesbeth Plingers, Facilities Director, and her team, we developed and realised a fully custom wayfinding and interior concept. More than 50 plexiglass signs combine clear colour coding with room numbering, helping patients, visitors and staff navigate the building with ease and confidence. We also designed and produced several custom display cabinets, each carefully tailored to the functional and technical requirements of the space. One of the most distinctive features is the “waiting area for champions”, where the jerseys of several remarkable athletes were given an original place of honour. From graphic design and material selection to technical development, production in our own workshop and installation on site, our team managed every stage of the process. The result is an environment where clear communication, functionality and craftsmanship come together. A project that shows how thoughtful design can make a meaningful difference to the way people experience and navigate a space.
