More than 90% of senior energy leaders believe their organisation has an accurate view of its margins. Yet most can only reconcile sales with actual margins 'usually, with some gaps or delays', and 74% say siloed teams are getting in the way of real margin optimisation. Gorilla's EMI Index, based on research with 600 senior executives across six European markets, calls this the Margin Confidence Paradox.
CEO Ruben Van den Bossche: 'What surprised us wasn't the confidence itself but how little it matches the operational reality beneath it. In today's energy market, where volatility has become the norm, that's no longer just an operational inefficiency, it is a commercial and, potentially, existential risk.'
