🧬 One of the most significant consolidations in industrial biotechnology to date: Again has announced the acquisition of Genomatica (Geno), uniting Again's biomanufacturing scale-up capabilities with Geno's AI discovery and design platform. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. ➡️ One end-to-end AI and computation stack: two decades of in silico pathway and strain design and predictive machine learning analytics combined with Again's AI-driven bioprocess design suite. ➡️ Closing the loop on scale-up: Geno's full-stack simulation capabilities merged with Again's scale-up modeling, engineering, and execution expertise a platform that designs and scales. ➡️ Accelerated deployment across novel feedstocks: the integrated entity compresses the timeline from de novo pathway design to industrial execution, across diverse and abundant feedstock sources. ➡️ Data at the core of the deal: Again acquires Geno's entire AI and computational biotech platform, including its patent portfolio and data spanning experimental results, structural and scale-up insights, and development outcomes. ➡️ Strategic timing: the acquisition lands as reshoring accelerates under sovereign priorities such as the U.S. BIOSECURE Act and the EU's Biotech Act II. According to Max Kufner, CEO of Again, algorithms are only as valuable as their capacity to translate into commercial-scale execution, and integrating Geno's molecule discovery and design capabilities with Again's scale-up platform and novel feedstock technologies is a step toward building the world's leading biomanufacturing platform. 🏭 Founded in 1998, Geno commercialized biological processes for widely used chemicals and materials. Its technology, IP, and commercial footprint will be fully integrated into the Again platform, and all existing Genomatica partners will continue to be supported throughout the transition. 🔗 Follow us: www.bioket.tech Geno, Again, GV (Google Ventures), HV Capital Management, Atlantic Labs AI, Novo Holdings, Torbjørn Ølshøj Jensen, Max Kufner, Alex Toftgaard Nielsen, Carolin Schulte, Christophe Schilling, Konrad Miller, Vivienne Mol, David Bauwens, Andreea Dobrescu, David Keating, Nelson Barton, Seth Levine, Amit Shah, Gionata Scalcinati, Michael Japs, Eric A.
