The International Cybersecurity Summerschool 2026 was so amazing that I don’t even know where to start. I could have asked my favourite LLM to give you a summary of the interesting lectures about securing OT and AI, table top cyber crisis exercises and visits to both Europol and NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCIA), but who’s waiting for that? What made this week the most special was the human connection. 56 people from 18 countries, learning from professionals in the field, and from each other while working on our final challenges. A group of people who went from strangers on day one to arguing about cyber attacks and incident response strategy like we’d worked together for years, to sitting at a bar at midnight still talking because none of us wanted the conversation to end. I worked on Nationaal Cyber Security Centrum (NCSC-NL)’s challenge all week, which meant long days, some genuinely hard problems, and a final presentation to a jury that didn’t let anyone off easy. Huge thanks to Security Delta (HSD) for putting the whole week together, and to NATO NCIA, NCSC, Europol, and every partner and speaker who showed up and actually engaged with a room full of curious, occasionally sleep-deprived students. To the 56 of you: it was a privilege learning next to you this week. Arrivederci, ICSSS 2026. Hope we meet soon.
