Immersion presented the #XRSeat, developed through the EU-funded HEAT project, at the ACM International Conference on Interactive Media Experiences (IMX) in Ireland.
The XRSeat is a do-it-yourself multimodal chair designed to let users customise sensory feedback during an immersive experience. Its features include adjustable vibration, airflow, audio and lighting, which can be controlled in real time.
Presented by Charles Bailly, a PhD researcher at IMMERSION, the prototype contributes to HEAT’s wider research into the combination of volumetric capture, immersive media and multi-user interaction. The project is exploring approaches to XR experiences that are more natural, accessible and responsible.
