Using plant diameter sensors at a tomato grower, we repeatedly observed a clear stagnation in plant recovery around the same time in the evening.
There were several indications that this stagnation was irrigation-related. In consultation with the grower, we therefore decided to apply an additional irrigation around the time when stagnation had repeatedly occurred.
π The result? In the days that followed, the previous stagnation was no longer visible, allowing the plant to continue its recovery.
This shows what we can do with plant diameter sensors:
1. Measure β how is the plant recovering?
2. Detect β where does recovery stagnate?
3. Adjust β in this case: apply additional irrigation at the right moment.
4. Evaluate β does the plant fully recover afterwards?
In some cases the plants clearly tell us what they need. So why not listen?
