White matter degeneration and demyelination are key hallmarks of Alzheimer’s disease, disrupting neural communication and contributing to cognitive decline. At the same time, increasing evidence also suggests that microglia-driven neuroinflammation plays a role in myelin loss.

In this study by Moreno et al., PET/CT imaging with the β-CUBE (PET) and X-CUBE (CT) was used to investigate the relationship between neuroinflammation and myelin integrity in the TgF344-AD rat model of Alzheimer’s disease.
