I watched a documentary on a plane and it handed me a word I had been fumbling toward for two years: apocaloptimist.
It means you take the catastrophic risk of AI completely seriously and refuse to be paralyzed by it. You hold both, and you get to work on the good outcome anyway.
The two easy postures, denial and doom, are cop-outs. Both let you off the hook from doing anything. Apocaloptimism is the only one that comes with a to-do list.
That is the posture I want in every leader I work with.
