The HashCam workflow is designed for evidentiary use cases. When a user captures a photo or video in the app, a unique cryptographic hash is computed locally and anchored to the Ethereum blockchain before the file lands in the device's photo library. Anyone holding the file can later submit it to HashScanner to verify whether the file matches the original timestamped hash, providing a tamper signal without uploading the underlying media. The legal framing in HashCam's FAQ is tailored to Belgian law, where the timestamp can act as a "begin van bewijs" (beginning of proof).
