Nobi
TLDR
Nobi is an Antwerp-based AgeTech company making AI-powered smart ceiling lamps that detect and prevent falls in elderly care facilities, with EUR 35M raised in an oversubscribed Series B in January 2025.
Overview
Founded in 2018 in Antwerp by Roeland Pelgrims, Stijn Verrept, and Bert De Haes, Nobi set out to address one of the most persistent and costly problems in elderly care: falls. Rather than wearables or visible cameras that residents refuse or resent, Nobi built an AI-powered smart light that mounts to the ceiling and operates passively. The device uses optical sensors and on-device AI to detect falls in real time and alert caregivers immediately.
Clinical outcomes reported by Nobi show a 51% average reduction in falls immediately after installation, with some facilities reducing falls by 84% after activating additional prevention features such as predictive risk scoring. These outcomes are significant in a care sector where falls are both a leading cause of serious injury and a major driver of care staff workload.
Nobi raised EUR 13M in a Series A in January 2022. In January 2025, the company closed a EUR 35M Series B that was oversubscribed, co-led by Angelini Ventures and Nexus NeuroTech Ventures. Additional investors in the Series B include Japanese investor 15th Rock, EQT Health Economics, EQT Dementia Fund, PMV, and the co-founders themselves. Total funding to date exceeds EUR 48M.
