IGNITY

TLDR

Wallonia's leading innovation hub, rebranded from WSL in 2025, with 73 spin-offs and startups across ICT/AI, medtech, and greentech, and offices in six Walloon cities.

Overview

IGNITY is a multi-site innovation hub and accelerator operating across Wallonia. Rebranded from WSL (Wallonie Startup & Launch) in 2025, the organization is now led by new Managing Director David Dalla Vecchia. The portfolio spans 73 spin-offs and active startups across three focus areas: ICT/AI, medtech, and greentech.

IGNITY operates offices in Liege, Charleroi, Namur, Louvain-la-Neuve, Mons, and Gembloux, giving it a geographic footprint that covers the major Walloon economic centers. This regional spread makes it the primary incubation infrastructure for Wallonia outside of the Brussels orbit.

The organization also serves as one of Belgium's designated sites for the NATO DIANA (Defence Innovation Accelerator for the North Atlantic) program, giving it a distinct profile in dual-use and defense-adjacent deep tech.

Notes

IGNITY is the most important single entity to track for Walloon startup ecosystem intelligence. The 2025 rebrand and new MD represent a reset worth monitoring. Its NATO DIANA affiliation makes it relevant for European defense tech coverage.
