Ann Belien

Ann Belien is the founder and CEO of Rejuvenate Biomed, a company she founded in October 2017. She is based in Hasselt, and her stated areas of expertise are neurology, immunology, small molecules, large molecules and drug discovery.

Before founding Rejuvenate Biomed, Belien spent seventeen years at The Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson. She joined as a scientist in April 2000 and from 2003 worked in preclinical, pharmaceutical, clinical development and regulatory project management within late development. She was project management leader for early development at Tibotec from 2007 and its strategic officer from December 2009, then led the project management office for the Crucell integration through 2011. From January 2012 to December 2016 she was R&D head of strategy and external innovation at the Janssen Prevention Center, and in 2017 she worked on campus strategy and open innovation.

Belien completed a master's degree in biomedical research sciences at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel in 1995, a PhD in neuro-oncology at the University of Zurich in 1999, and a post-doc in neuro-oncology at ETH Zürich.
