Marie Verougstraete

Marie Verougstraete is the founder of nextgenics, a company she started in November 2021, and is based in Hasselt. Since April 2026 she has also been a business development manager at Cavell.

She worked with Jessa Ziekenhuis in two capacities, as a business developer at FRAME by Jessa Ziekenhuis from February 2024 to December 2025 and as an innovation adviser at Jessa ziekenhuis between February and May 2025. Earlier she was head of digital at both Barthels Medical and Gymna Belgium from April 2020 to August 2021, having joined Gymna Belgium as a product manager in November 2016. In 2016 she spent several months as an AMS consultant at Pfizer, and between 2010 and 2016 she worked as a sailing instructor for Sport Vlaanderen.

Verougstraete studied rehabilitation sciences and physiotherapy, with a paediatrics focus, at KU Leuven from 2010 to 2015, carrying out physiotherapy internships at UZ Leuven, Sint-Lodewijk in Wetteren, Sint-Kamillus, De Kei, Pulderbos and Spermalie. She followed this with a master in general management at Antwerp Management School in 2015 and 2016. She attended Scholen Kindsheid Jesu Hasselt, where she took economics and mathematics.
