Smeys met Lander Degrève and Manu Vanderveeren while studying business engineering at KU Leuven. Before founding Spott, he worked at BCG.

As CTO of Spott, Smeys leads engineering on the AI-Native recruitment platform built for staffing firms. The product applies AI throughout the hiring lifecycle, automating tasks across sourcing, screening, and candidate management.
