Overview
Acapela Group develops text-to-speech software and digital voices. It was formed in 2003 through the merger of three European speech technology specialists: Babel Technologies in Belgium, Elan Speech in France and Infovox in Sweden. Its headquarters are in Mons, with subsidiaries in Toulouse, Frankfurt and Stockholm and further offices in Turin, Rabat and Boston. The Belgian entity is registered as Acapela Group Babel Technologies SA under enterprise number 0460.125.240, active since 4 March 1997. The portfolio covers more than 250 voices in over 30 languages, delivered through SDKs for Linux, Windows, macOS, iOS, Android and embedded systems, a cloud API, custom voice creation and voice branding. My-Own-Voice, introduced in 2014, generates a synthetic copy of a person's voice from 50 recorded sentences and won a CES 2023 Innovation Award in the Digital Health category. Acapela has built custom voices for Deutsche Bahn, Berlin operator BVG and Transport for London, whose Piccadilly line voice Elloise was announced in November 2024. In May 2026 Trucker Path selected the company for embedded navigation voices. Acapela acquired the French startup CreaWave in November 2015. Remy Cadic is CEO.
