Overview
Alterface designs interactive technology and turnkey attractions for the theme park industry, covering interactive dark rides, interactive theatres, erratic dark rides and walkthroughs. The company was founded in 2001 as a spin-off of the Université catholique de Louvain in Louvain-la-Neuve, and is headquartered at Avenue Pasteur 11 in Wavre, with further offices in Singapore and Miami. Its patented show control software Salto manages the interactive components of an attraction, including shooting, lighting, animatronics, special effects, audio, image and video. Other products include Action League, the Wander software suite, MovieMax, and the CartBox and GunBox systems. Founder and previous CEO Benoit Cornet stepped down as Chairman of the Board in May 2020. Stephane Battaille, who had served as COO and shareholder, was appointed CEO earlier that year. Laurence Beckers, part of the group that founded the company in 2001, is Creative Director. François Danhaive, with the company since 2008, was promoted to Chief Operating Officer in September 2025. In 2026 the company stated it had over 150 interactive dark rides, walkthroughs and theatres installed worldwide.
