Astrofood is a Belgium-based start-up developing high-performance nutrition with fresh microalgae, claiming to be the only company in the world developing food products based on this fresh biomass. Their research is powered by close ties with universities, laboratories and health professionals in the Benelux, delivering optimized nutrition for high-performance athletes. Astrofood is an incubatee of the European Space Agency BIC.

Proud to share that we've successfully closed out the first stage of the Astromechatronics project with Astrofood, made possible by an ESA Space Solutions Belgium Spark Funding. Over the course of this project, we took important steps toward automated, intelligent systems for space-based microalgae cultivation, combining mechatronics, control theory, and data science to push this technology forward.
