Overview
CMB.TECH was created out of the Compagnie Maritime Belge group in Antwerp and absorbed the listed shipping company Euronav after a 2024 takeover led by the Saverys family. The Euronav name was retired and the combined entity was renamed CMB.TECH effective 1 October 2024, with the ticker on Euronext Brussels and NYSE changing from EURN to CMBT. The group is also listed on Euronext Oslo Børs under CMBTO.
The company positions itself as a future-proof maritime business, combining a large conventional shipping fleet with low-carbon propulsion technology. CMB.TECH develops, builds, owns, and operates hydrogen and ammonia-powered vessels, and produces and supplies green hydrogen and ammonia to customers either through its own production or via third-party producers. The Windcat division operates crew transfer and commissioning service vessels for offshore wind, including Windcat Amsterdam.
Alexander Saverys is CEO and his brother Ludovic Saverys is CFO. The group is headquartered at De Gerlachekaai 20 in Antwerp, with offices across Europe, Asia, and Africa, and reported around 873 LinkedIn-listed employees against a stated company size of 1,001 to 5,000. CMB.TECH sits at the intersection of the Belgian shipping economy and the CleanTech & Energy transition, applying Deep Tech & Hardware propulsion engineering inside a publicly listed industrial operator.

- Together with Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL), we celebrated the naming ceremony of three ammonia-powered Capesize dry bulk vessels at Qingdao Beihai Shipbuilding in China. The vessels, named RURI MIRAI, RURI SEKAI and RURI HIKARI, are scheduled for delivery in 2027.
