- Hackers turned supermarket freezers into heaters. Twice in three weeks Last night, a freezer told the store it was fine. It was at 50°C. In October, hundreds of French supermarkets lost their chilled and frozen stock. On the night of 1–2 November, it happened again: stores in Belgium, the Netherlands, Sweden, Estonia, Ireland and beyond. Attackers reached refrigeration controllers that were exposed to the internet and switched cooling units into defrost mode or raised their setpoints. The part that should worry every food retailer:
