- Discai says hi from Copenhagen! Day 2 at the Nordic Financial Crime & Sanctions Forum, and our team is still here to meet you. So far, the forum has already covered preparations for AMLA and AMLD6, KYC onboarding, transaction monitoring, sanctions circumvention and fraud. A lot of the debate comes down to this: how much can we automate before ownership becomes blurry? Patrycja Wisniewska, Bruno De Block and Lotte Haesendonck are here at the booth until the conference closes if you would like to dive deeper. Ready for you!
- Financial criminals do not run model validation. They adopt AI whenever it suits them. Banks adopt it under supervision. That asymmetry is becoming unbearable because Chartis Research projects that GenAI-enabled fraud will pass €34 billion a year by 2027. Financial institutions can up their pace too, but only once three things are settled: - models that hold up when a supervisor asks how a score was produced, - data that is understood before anything is trained on it, - and a human who remains accountable for the final call.
- Why do we love coming to the Nordics? Because some of the topics at the heart of financial crime prevention come together here, at the Nordic Financial Crime & Sanctions Forum: AMLA, transaction monitoring, sanctions, fraud and, increasingly, AI. That last one needs attention. Financial criminals have access to the same advances in AI as everyone else. They can use them to change behaviour, increase speed and make suspicious activity harder to recognise. Financial institutions therefore need to consider whether the way they
- You may have spotted her on our socials or at one of the events we attended, so it’s time we make it official: we’re very happy to welcome Patrycja Wisniewska to Discai’s Executive Committee as Commercial Director! With nearly 20 years of experience across banking, payments, digital transformation and financial crime compliance in Europe and Asia-Pacific, she’s a fantastic fit for Discai as we continue to grow internationally. She shares a belief we care a lot about: innovation should make financial services better for people, and
- AML has a few problems. Can you list them all? At the 6th Annual FinCrime Leaders Summit in Frankfurt by Transform Finance #TransformFinance, four came up repeatedly: 1. Transaction monitoring still creates too many false positives, costs too much and adapts too slowly. 2. AI capabilities are advancing faster than governance, explainability and regulatory frameworks. 3. Investigators still spend too much time on repetitive work that technology can support. 4. Financial crime operates across institutions and borders,

- What if the future of AML is not about detecting more alone but about knowing more together? Because contrary to what we might base our strategy on, financial crime does not happen within the boundaries of one bank. Criminal networks move across institutions, countries and systems. Yet many AML operating models are still built around fragmented data, isolated signals and institution-by-institution detection. At the 6th Annual FinCrime Leaders Summit DACH, Fabrice Deprez will explore a different direction. In his keynote, Fabrice
- Why do AML transformations often get delayed? A common assumption is that major investments, lengthy preparation phases, and perfectly structured data are prerequisites for moving forward. But that's not always the case. After 20+ years leading transformation and implementation projects in financial services, Discai’s Customer Success Lead Nele Vanbiervliet has seen organisations postpone initiatives for reasons that turn out to be less significant than expected. In fact, most organisations are closer to launching an AML PoC
