HashCam

Overview

HashCam is operated by Impact Makers BV (BE 0777.567.440), a Flemish Brabant company registered on 22 November 2021 and headquartered at Mimosalaan 18 in Hever, Boortmeerbeek, on the rail axis between Mechelen and Leuven. The product is offered on iOS via the App Store and is paired with HashScanner, a free public verifier accessible at hashscanner.io.

The HashCam workflow is designed for evidentiary use cases. When a user captures a photo or video in the app, a unique cryptographic hash is computed locally and anchored to the Ethereum blockchain before the file lands in the device's photo library. Anyone holding the file can later submit it to HashScanner to verify whether the file matches the original timestamped hash, providing a tamper signal without uploading the underlying media. The legal framing in HashCam's FAQ is tailored to Belgian law, where the timestamp can act as a "begin van bewijs" (beginning of proof).

Target use cases include damage claims, construction site documentation, legal disputes, compliance and audit trails, journalism, and forensic investigation. The product sits in the broader Cybersecurity and content provenance space, positioned as an alternative or complement to C2PA-style flows.
