- On August 10, at least 132 people were reported killed, and 570 were injured following a 7.4-magnitude earthquake 5 km East of San José del Palmar, Chocó. The earthquake occurred at 7.34 am at a depth of 107 km. According to the Asociación Colombiana de Ciudades Capitales (Asocapitales), it was reported that 40 casualties were in Risaralda, 27 in Valle del Cauca, and 4 in Chocó. Following the earthquake, President Abelardo De La Espriella declared a national state of emergency.
