- Proud of the IDLab (UAntwerp - imec) space team. Step by step, they are helping to change the world. Being able to work with real Celeste LEO-PNT signals from space is not only an important research milestone. It is also part of a much bigger ambition: strengthening Europe’s technological sovereignty in critical infrastructures such as positioning and navigation. It is great to see our team at the University of Antwerp and imec are among the pioneers exploring what this next generation of positioning technology can make possible.

- Yesterday we hosted The Open Problem in Ghent! A small, closed room with energy trading desks and the researchers working on the same problems from the other side. Three statements, then open discussion: Ana Radovanovic (Google) on data centres as grid-aware, flexible load. Jan Fostier (imec) on the hardware reshaping AI data centres. David Schaurecker (ETH Zürich) on high-frequency trading for grid-scale BESS. Around the table: trading desks from the likes of Centrica, ENGIE, Luminus, Entrix, and Ignitis Group with the
- Congratulations to Andrés María Majorana González, who has been awarded an FWO PhD Fellowship! He is the third PhD student in the IDLab (UAntwerp - imec) Space team, led by Thomas Janssen, to receive one. Let’s change the way we communicate and locate ourselves.
- IDLab-Wireless at IPIN 2026! Last week, our team attended the International Conference on Indoor Positioning and Indoor Navigation (IPIN), where we presented two papers and one poster. Our contributions focused on two key technologies for indoor positioning and navigation: Ultra-Wideband (UWB) and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) Channel Sounding. It was great to see both topics strongly represented throughout the conference program and discussions. 🏆 A special congratulations to Jorg Wieme, whose poster on BLE Channel Sounding
- Great to see how research can grow into real-world impact. Proud to see Lopos, an IDLab (UGent - imec) spinoff, taking this next step with Boplan. Congratulations to everyone involved! 👏
