- At EuCNC & 6G Summit 2026 we showed our IDLab (UGent - imec) demo on O-RAN compliant Wi-Fi Access Points for Programmable and Intelligent Multi-RAT Networks, developed within the UNITY-6G project. Our work demonstrates how extending the O-RAN architecture beyond cellular networks to include #openwifi Access Points enables a unified control plane across multiple Radio Access Technologies (RATs). This approach allows Wi-Fi and cellular networks to be managed as a single programmable and intelligent system, paving the way for: ✅
- The future of connectivity isn't just terrestrial—it’s a seamless blend of earth and space. 🌍 Building further on the insights shared by everyone at the Wireless Community event, the momentum behind integrating Terrestrial Networks (TN) with Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN) is undeniable as we march toward ubiquitous global 6G coverage. However, merging traditional fiber with satellite paths creates highly asymmetric backhaul links. When congestion hits, how do you intelligently route traffic without creating massive overhead or
