- 100,000 litres of drinking water from treated municipal wastewater, every single hour 🩵 That's what the expansion of the Direct Potable Reuse plant at WPC Hofstade (Aalst, Belgium) will make possible. The installation was designed with this expansion in mind from day one. Once the first year of full-scale operation proved successful, a second UF-RO-UV-AC treatment line could be added quickly to double the production capacity of the plant with minimal disruption. The mechanical installation was completed in less than five days of
- Familiar faces in Trends this week 👀 This dry summer once again shows how important water security is becoming. Water sources are under pressure, quality requirements are becoming stricter and both industry and public water companies are looking for ways to make their water supply more resilient. That’s where Nuoro wants to make a difference: 💧 turning wastewater into a valuable new water source ♻️ designing smarter and more efficient water treatment systems ⚡ developing projects around energy recovery and electrification to
- Why use drinking water where drinking water isn't needed? 💧 In Vorselaar, a new rainwater reuse system supplies four school buildings with rainwater for toilet flushing and other non-potable applications. Commissioned by Pidpa and part of the B-rain Connect network, the project is a great example of how smarter water use can strengthen water resilience. Nuoro supplied the complete pumping and filtration installation, ensuring the collected rainwater can be stored, distributed and used reliably every day. Curious to see how it works?
- How can we keep water available for the moments when it is needed most? 🥵 One technology that can help is Aquifer Storage & Recovery (or simply: ASR). This technology uses the underground as a temporary water buffer. Treated or naturally clean water is stored in a suitable aquifer during wet periods and recovered when demand increases. The principle may sound simple, but applying it safely requires careful research: ☝️ the water must be treated to the right quality ☝️ the aquifer must be suitable ☝️ and the interaction between the
- Could wastewater become your next water source? The current drought is once again putting water availability under pressure in Flanders. For industrial companies, this is another reminder that a reliable water supply cannot always be taken for granted. One potential source is already available on many sites: treated wastewater. With the right treatment, this water can be reused as service water, process water or even drinking water. The appropriate solution depends on three elements: 💧 the available water stream 💧 the intended
