Septentrio designs and manufactures multi-frequency GNSS receiver boards and modules that original equipment manufacturers integrate into their own systems. The company was incorporated in Leuven in January 2000 by Peter Grognard to commercialise satellite navigation know-how developed at the Interuniversity Micro Electronics Center (IMEC), where he had spent 18 months. Grognard led the company as CEO for 14 years and later moved to Thales Alenia Space. Products include the AsteRx1 Galileo-compatible receiver, multi-antenna GPS receivers for attitude determination and the AsteRx-m3 ProBase. The company received the Trends Gazelle award in 2007 and GPS World Products Leadership Awards in 2013 and 2018. Septentrio is headquartered in Leuven with offices in Espoo, Los Angeles, Shanghai, Yokohama and Seoul, and employs approximately 150 people. Revenue for 2024 exceeded EUR 50 million, with 20% year-over-year growth. Antoon De Proft is CEO. Septentrio operates within Hexagon's Autonomous Solutions division and keeps its own brand and operational independence.
