TRAIL aims to mobilize research and innovation capabilities from Walloon and Brussels regions to serve their socio-economic development in artificial intelligence. It interacts with the socio-economic ecosystem to transmit and enrich expertise and tools developed in AI by universities and approved research centers through publicly or privately funded projects.

- And that’s a wrap on #TReC2026! 🏔️ Two intense weeks, packed with science, collaboration, discoveries, and definitely a few unforgettable moments. - Certains diront que la Belgique est trop petite pour être dans la course à l'IA. Pour développer des "frontier models" de LLM, sans doute. Mais l'IA c'est bien plus que ça. Et si on s'allie, on peut certainement aller plus loin. C'est pour cela que l'initiative TRAIL - TRusted AI Labs est si critique. En réunissant les labos francophones principaux de recherche en IA (Universités et centres de recherche), elle permet de catalyser une communauté de chercheurs de pointe, et les orienter vers les sujets critiques pour notre futur.
- Swiss–Belgian collaboration on #AI As part of the TRAIL - Trusted AI Labs Research Camp (#TReC) in Lausanne, a Belgian TRAIL delegation travelled to Switzerland to explore new opportunities for collaboration between TRAIL - Trusted AI Labs, EPFL and Université de Lausanne. The visit was a great opportunity to connect our research communities and discuss how we can build stronger bridges between the Belgian and Swiss AI ecosystems. - Science Gateaway at CERN Our researchers had the opportunity to visit CERN, one of the world’s leading centers for particle physics, and experience first-hand the scale and ambition of its research facilities. Thanks to four dedicated guides (we were really lucky!), our group had the chance to explore LINAC, where protons are generated, as well as AD (Antiproton Decelerator) and ELENA, dedicated to the study of antimatter. - Research happens in meeting rooms. Collaboration often starts elsewhere. 🏔️ During #TReC2026 in Lausanne, our social event took us onto Lake Geneva for a 3-hour cruise and dinner together. A great opportunity to step away from the research projects, get to know each other and share ideas in a more informal setting. - TReC2026 has officially started! 🏔️ The TRAIL - Trusted AI Labs Research Camp 2026 has officially kicked off in Lausanne and what better way to start than by getting to know each other, discovering the different projects and having a little fun? 😄 Our first stop was the Musée de la main UNIL-CHUV, where participants took part in an ice-breaking challenge designed to help everyone connect and discover the 10 projects they will be working on over the next two weeks. We then headed to Université de Lausanne for the official opening
