• Congratulations to our colleague Anthony Amorosi on successfully defending his PhD thesis ! His research, conducted at the Precision Mechatronics Laboratory (PML), led to his thesis entitled: “Development of high-resolution optical inertial sensors for low-frequency seismic isolation.” Where he contributed to the development of a prototype of a seismic isolation system for next-generation gravitational wave detectors. FCL is scheduled to launch aboard SpaceX’s Transporter-18 rideshare mission no earlier than October 2026 🚀 FCL marks Meridian Space’s first deployment to orbit and an important milestone in the development of its next-generation LEO communications architecture. Built on Kongsberg NanoAvionics’ flight-proven MP42 microsatellite bus, the spacecraft carries Meridian’s communications payload, including two reconfigurable reflectarray antennas and radio, designed to demonstrate the system’s performance in orbit and establish a live customer link. The mission will validate key elements of Meridian’s architecture in space and represents the transition from years of antenna development and ground testing to flight operations. Meridian is developing purpose-built LEO communications networks designed around the requirements of their owners, enabling greater control over infrastructure, capacity and network priorities. As launch integrator, Exolaunch is providing launch capacity procurement, launch planning, logistics and customs clearance, environmental testing support, satellite integration, and deployment using its flight-proven 15-inch CarboNIX separation ring. We thank Meridian Space and Kongsberg NanoAvionics for their continued trust and partnership, and V2i s.a. for its support in completing the testing campaign safely and precisely.
