Overview

Whitesky Cloud delivers a private managed cloud platform built on Linux and KVM, deployed on the customer's own hardware in the datacenter of their choice. The model targets MSPs, SaaS providers, and enterprises that want cloud-style operations while keeping infrastructure ownership and data residency under their direct control.

The company is part of the European sovereign-cloud movement, offering an architecture where the orchestration layer is managed but the underlying hardware and location stay with the customer. This sits in contrast to hyperscaler models where compute, storage, and networking are entirely operated from vendor-owned facilities.

Nowelizacja ustawy o Krajowym Systemie Cyberbezpieczeństwa weszła w życie na początku kwietnia tego roku. Z dnia na dzień hasło „chcemy mieć dane w Europie” przestało być deklaracją wartości, a stało się pozycją w analizie ryzyka, za którą — w przypadku podmiotów kluczowych i ważnych — osobiście odpowiada zarząd. W tym samym czasie rynek zalała fala ofert opisywanych jako „europejskie”, „suwerenne” i „prywatne”. Brzmią podobnie, ale kryją się za nimi bardzo różne rzeczy. I właśnie ta różnica zaczyna decydować o tym, kto wygra rozmowę z klientem. ➡️ Suwerenność ma poziomy Suwerenność nie jest przełącznikiem w pozycji „włączone/wyłączone”. To gradient, bo najniższy poziom to po prostu dane przechowywane w regionie na terenie UE. A to w praktyce nadal może oznaczać sprzęt należący do zagranicznego dostawcy, w jego centrum danych, zarządzany przez jego personel i podlegający jego polityce korporacyjnej. Wyżej jest kontrola operacyjna: operacje i ludzie po stronie europejskiej, przejrzysty łańcuch dostaw oprogramowania, niezależność od podmiotów z państw trzecich. A na samym szczycie — pełna kontrola nad infrastrukturą, jej lokalizacją i tym, kto w świetle prawa może uzyskać do niej dostęp. Większość „chmur europejskich” zatrzymuje się na najniższym szczeblu. Etykieta mówi „Europa”, ale fundament — serwery, na których wszystko działa — należy do kogoś innego i podlega cudzej jurysdykcji. Dopóki nic się nie dzieje, różnica jest niewidoczna. Staje się boleśnie widoczna w momencie kontroli, audytu ubezpieczyciela albo żądania wydania danych na podstawie przepisów eksterytorialnych, takich jak CLOUD Act. ➡️ Warstwa, która rozstrzyga: własny sprzęt To dlatego najważniejsza linia podziału przebiega nie na poziomie marketingu, lecz na poziomie sprzętu. Kto jest jego właścicielem? Gdzie fizycznie stoi? Kto — i na podstawie czyjego prawa — może zostać zmuszony do udostępnienia tego, co się na nim znajduje? Model, w którym suwerenna platforma IaaS uruchamiana jest na serwerach klasy enterprise będących własnością klienta, odpowiada na te pytania jednoznacznie. Klucze trzyma operator i jego klient, a nie pośrednik. Dane nie „mieszkają w Europie” — one „mieszkają” na sprzęcie, którego właściciel jest znany z imienia i nazwiska, w lokalizacji, którą sam wskazał. To różnica między suwerennością deklarowaną a suwerennością, którą można zweryfikować. But there is a critical layer between infrastructure and applications that remains largely missing. The global cloud revolution was not simply about adding more compute. AWS, Azure and Google #Cloud built platforms that made infrastructure accessible, scalable and usable through self-service environments. Africa is now building the physical infrastructure. Applications are also being developed. But the platform layer connecting the two is still fragmented. Without that layer, institutions will continue building separate systems, each with its own identity, storage, networking, monitoring and orchestration. The question is no longer just whether Africa has enough infrastructure. It is whether that infrastructure can become usable, scalable and shared #digital capability. The number of #data centres? Or the amount of data-centre space added? How much of Africa’s #digital economy actually runs inside #Africa? Because megawatts were never the objective. They are a means to an end. The real objective is to process more African workloads locally, keep more data within local jurisdictions, reduce latency, expand access to #AI compute and strengthen control over critical digital infrastructure. And achieving that does not necessarily require enormous facilities everywhere. It may require thousands of smaller #deployments located closer to the institutions, businesses and communities where the workloads already exist. Some workloads will need large, purpose-built facilities. But not every workload requires a #hyperscale environment. The goal, therefore, should not be to build the biggest infrastructure. It should be to build the right infrastructure, in the right place, at the right scale. Africa does not have to replicate the data-centre model of the West. It has an #opportunity to build one that reflects its own markets, capital realities and digital needs. Going from a WordPress request to a fully deployed game, VM, networking, DNS and all, without touching a portal, is a genuinely different capability than AI writing code for a human to deploy. To test it, he gave Claude Sonnet 5 a fairly simple instruction: 👉 Create a new VM 👉 Create a new cloudspace 👉 Configure networking 👉 Create DNS 👉 Set up ingress 👉 Deploy something cool on the website The original idea was WordPress. Then the prompt changed to: "Forget WordPress. We’re going to show this to the team. Build something cool instead — maybe a game." 🎮 About 5 minutes later… Claude had: ☁️ Created the cloud infrastructure 🖥️ Provisioned the VM 🌐 Configured the cloudspace 🔗 Created the DNS record 🚪 Configured the ingress 👨‍💻 Built a shoot-'em-up game 🚀 Deployed it 🌍 And made it publicly accessible You can actually play it here: 🎮 https://lnkd.in/eJVXWHJE And that's the part I find really interesting. This isn't just AI generating code anymore. This is AI operating infrastructure. Through MCP, the AI can understand the tools exposed by the whitesky.cloud VCO platform and use them to turn an idea into a running workload. No clicking through portals. No manually creating networks. No manually provisioning VMs. No manually configuring DNS or ingress. You describe what you want. The AI figures out how to make it happen. 🤖 + 🔧 MCP + ☁️ Cloud APIs = a very different way of thinking about cloud operations. We're still experimenting, but seeing an AI go from a natural-language request to a completely deployed application in roughly five minutes was pretty impressive. And the game wasn't even the goal. Great news from whitesky.cloud: external SAN storage integration This directly answers the question every VMware migration conversation eventually hits, "what happens to the SAN we already paid for?" Being able to say "your storage stays, VMware goes" removes one of the biggest practical objections to actually starting the move.
