Benjamien Moeyaert

Overview

Benjamien Moeyaert is a co-founder of Tavira Therapeutics, where he has served as co-founder and platform lead since June 2023. He is based in Leuven and has been a research manager at Trellis since December 2023.

He studied at KU Leuven from 2005, taking a bachelor's degree in biochemistry and biotechnology in 2008 and a master's in the same field in 2010, and was a trainee there from 2009 to 2010 while also acting as a student's representative for LOKO. He remained at KU Leuven for a PhD in biochemistry from 2010 to 2015, during which he spent October 2010 as a visiting researcher at RIKEN and the autumn of 2011 as a visiting researcher at the University of Alberta.

After a brief postdoctoral post at KU Leuven in 2015, he was a postdoctoral associate at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute from August 2015 to May 2018. He then returned to KU Leuven, first as a postdoctoral associate, then as a molecular cell biologist in gene therapy, and from April 2022 to December 2023 as research manager for gene therapy discovery science.
