Overview
Benoît Macq is a co-founder of openhub and is based in Brussels. He has been a professor of image processing at the Université catholique de Louvain since September 1991, and from 2009 to 2014 he served as Pro-Recteur "Service à la Société" at the same university. Since January 2024 he has been Editor in Chief of IEEE Trans. on Image Processing. He joined the board of the Académie royale des Sciences, des Lettres et des Beaux-Arts de Belgique in January 2023 and, since January 2025, has directed its Classe Technologie et Société.
Earlier in his career he worked as a researcher at Philips Laboratory Belgium from July 1990 to August 1991, and from 1986 to 1990 he was a PhD student and ingénieur principal at the Université catholique de Louvain. He began at Tractionnel, now Tractebel, as an engineer between August 1985 and August 1986. He studied electrical and electronics engineering at the Université catholique de Louvain, where he obtained a PhD.
