Bernard Gustin

Bernard Gustin is CEO of Elia Group, the Brussels-listed Belgian high-voltage transmission system operator and owner of 50Hertz in Germany.

Overview

Bernard Gustin was appointed CEO of Elia Group on 15 January 2025, having previously served as Independent Director and Chairman of the Elia Group Board of Directors since 2017. He was born in 1968 and built his career in international business, with two decades at consulting firm Arthur D. Little (1999 to 2008), then as co-CEO and CEO of Brussels Airlines (2008 to 2018). Since February 2022 he has been Executive Chairman of Lineas, the largest private rail freight operator in Europe, a role he continues alongside the Elia Group CEO seat.

In August 2025 he was elected Chairman of the Supervisory Board of 50Hertz, the German subsidiary of Elia Group, reinforcing the group-level coordination across Belgium and Germany.
