Overview
Bertold Van den Bergh is a co-founder of mahi, where he has been principal engineer since February 2026. He co-founded the company in January 2022 and served as its chief technology officer until taking up his current role. He is based in Antwerp.
Between June 2016 and March 2022 he worked as an embedded systems and telecommunications engineer at Project Mahi. He was a senior firmware engineer at Byteflies from October 2017 to September 2022, and a research and development engineer at ST Engineering from September 2019 to May 2020.
Van den Bergh studied at KU Leuven, completing a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and computer science in 2011 and a master's degree in electrical engineering, electronics and integrated circuits in 2013. He then carried out doctoral research there on wireless communications and modems for UAVs, obtaining a PhD in telecommunications engineering in 2017. In 2013 he spent several months as a visiting researcher at ETH Zürich. He worked as a student embedded engineer at Flanders Make and at Digital Radio Music in 2012, and attended Heilig Graf Instituut Bilzen.
