Overview
Powernaut launched in January 2024 and announced a first wave of partners that June, naming ScoptVision, Innovoltus, MyGrid, BePowered and Qbus with 20 MW of combined installed capacity. In September 2024 Degroote spoke as chief executive about a residential energy flex program launched in Belgium with an energy supplier. Customers now include Luminus in Belgium, Romande Energie in Switzerland and DSG in the Netherlands, the last of which runs 350 MW of solar and batteries across four markets on the platform. The Ghent office sits in the Wintercircus, and company job listings also name Barcelona and Berlin.
Degroote founded Powernaut in 2024 with Serge Morel, the company's co-founder and CTO, and the two were long-time friends before starting it. The company announced a EUR 2.4 million pre-seed round on 11 December 2024, led by Revent in Berlin and joined by Seedcamp in London, Pitchdrive in Antwerp and Syndicate One in Brussels. At the time of that round Powernaut worked with partners managing over 200MW of decentralised energy assets. Degroote has since been quoted as chief executive on the SAP listing in July 2026 and the Nord Pool partnership in August 2026.
