Overview
Gerben Peeters is cofounder and chief executive of mappalink, a company he cofounded in October 2022. He is based in Heverlee.
Before that he spent several years at KU Leuven. He joined as a scientific staff member in December 2015 and became an SB PhD fellow in April 2016, completing a doctorate titled Towards Unmanned Inland Shipping in March 2021. During his doctoral work he spent July and August 2017 as a visiting PhD student at the MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL). He remained at KU Leuven as a postdoctoral researcher from March 2021 to March 2022.
Peeters studied industrial sciences in electromechanical engineering at Groep T - Internationale Hogeschool Leuven from 2010 to 2013. He then took a Master of Science in Industrial Sciences: Electromechanical Engineering, Intelligent Mobility at KU Leuven from 2013 to 2015, alongside a postgraduate programme in Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Engineering. His master's thesis covered the development of a lean audit and improvement tool for starting up new ventures.
