Overview
Gil Nimmegeers is a co-founder of Healthblocks, a role he has held since April 2020, and is based in Gent. Since October 2016 he has also been a co-founder of Nimble - Digital Product Studio.
Between February 2017 and June 2018 he was an innovation manager and intrapreneur at The Studio. Before that he worked at Belfius from September 2014 to February 2017 as a functional analyst and scrum master. He co-founded Wappit in January 2013 and remained with it until October 2016. Earlier he was a youth worker at Free-Time vzw from 2011 to 2014 and at Kazou vzw from 2009 to 2012, and in February 2013 he took part in a Lifelong Learning Programme Erasmus exchange at FH Joanneum.
He studied at Katholieke Hogeschool 'Sint-Lieven' in Gent, completing a bachelor's degree in applied engineering, electronics/ICT, in 2013 and a master's degree in applied engineering, computer engineering, in 2014. He attended Sint-Janscollege Gent from 2004 to 2010.

- Last Thursday at 7pm we put the client work away, ordered pizza and started building and playing, let's go! The excuse was Jev, a new AI model from TypeSafe AI. Small models like it had been the talk of the office for a week, so it was time to find out what they actually do. Most people know AI from ChatGPT: you ask something, it writes an answer. Jev is a different kind of AI, called a classifier. It doesn’t write text, it makes small decisions. Ask it a yes/no question and it tells you how likely the answer is yes. It’s fast and
- How much of the code do you still write yourself? Half of what used to make you a strong engineer, AI does for you now. What's left is harder to automate away. Our engineering lead Milan put it plainly: "We write less code and spend more time defining what expertly written code should look like. That only works if you know what good looks like in the first place." The rest goes to product thinking. And when everything else fails, and it will, you need to solve it at the lowest, most critical level: infrastructure and security.
