Overview
Guillaume Boutin was appointed CEO Vodafone Investments & Strategy and a member of the Vodafone Group Executive Committee on 15 May 2025. He took over the remit from Serpil Timuray, who left Vodafone at the end of June after fifteen years with the company. Before Vodafone he was Chief Executive Officer of Proximus, the Belgian telecommunications operator, which he had joined in 2017 as Chief Consumer Market Officer. The Proximus board decided on 27 November 2019 to appoint him group CEO effective 1 December 2019 for a six-year term, succeeding Dominique Leroy. He was 45 at the time. During five years as CEO he ran the bold2025 strategy, accelerated the fibre and 5G rollout in Belgium, signed cooperation agreements with competing operators to reduce duplicate fibre construction, created Proximus NXT and launched Proximus Global. Proximus announced in February 2025 that he would join Vodafone and leave the group in mid-May, closing seven years at the company. Boutin is also Lead Independent Director of Pluxee, where he sits on the audit committee and on the nomination and remuneration committee. He holds a master's in corporate finance from HEC Paris and an executive MBA from INSEAD.
He joined SFR in 2003 and held positions in strategy, finance and marketing there, including chief financial officer and chief marketing officer. In 2015 he moved to Canal+ Group as Chief Marketing Officer. He arrived at Proximus in 2017 as Chief Consumer Market Officer, leading the consumer business unit, and was named group CEO two years later.
