Obviously, this has nothing to do with DeepSeek and Kimi pushing powerful open weight models that are dramatically cheaper to run.
- Microsoft reported strong earnings yesterday. Stock is up 10% pre-market. Satya mentined two areas of focus moving forward. 1. Optimize model choice, focus on performance vs cost -- Capex Q4 is lower than analysts expected, and their own MAI models are getting impressive 2. Copilot "super app" incoming 👀 -- Hopefully this will clear up some confusion on when to use which Copilot (over 50 products with name Copilot today). Microsoft is making some very interesting moves right now.

- ChatGPT and Codex are becoming one. I updated the ChatGPT app today and noticed it had been renamed to ChatGPT Classic. Interesting. Codex is now becoming the main ChatGPT app. Well, that's confusing. The direction makes sense. Two separate apps were never the way forward. But the current UX and UI? Confusing. Moreover, there is no full parity with the classic ChatGPT app. What I have already noticed is missing: Pinned chats, ChatGPT projects, Deep Research. It will surely get better. - GPT-5.6 is now the preferred model for Microsoft 365 Copilot. The timing caught my attention. Over the past few days, there's been growing discussion that Microsoft is increasingly relying on its own MAI models. Now we see GPT-5.6 positioned as the 𝑝𝑟𝑒𝑓𝑒𝑟𝑟𝑒𝑑 model, while OpenAI also becomes an 𝐨𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐮𝐛𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐫 for Microsoft 365 Copilot, disabled by default and controlled by the customer.
