A campaigner in Denver, Colorado needed to get his sensor higher up to get a clear view of the busy road outside his home. His solution was the family’s giant Halloween decoration. It now stands guard on the front lawn in a hi-vis vest with a Telraam tucked under its chin, counting every vehicle, bike and pedestrian that passes. It’s a great look, but the skeleton isn’t the scariest thing on that street. Too much traffic going too fast past people’s homes is far more frightening, and data like this helps communities show their councils what they’re living with. Thanks to our user for sending this in. While this installation style will not be added to our standard procedures, it is a creative approach to getting good data. We look forward to seeing the counts once the season’s over. Zo, gedaan met de geheimzinnigheid, we mogen het eindelijk zeggen: Telraam maakt nu deel uit van de Quanteo-groep (Eco-Counter), de gereputeerde marktleider in onze (niche)sector! Ongelooflijk trots waar we met z'n allen zijn geraakt na 7j hard werken. Zéér enthousiast over wat we gaan kunnen realiseren onder de vleugels van Eco-Counter in de komende jaren. Telraam are headed to Active Travel England's Making Active Places conference in Manchester on 22 – 23 September, and we would love to connect with you while we’re there. We are already working across Greater Manchester. Tom Goosse nam ons mee doorheen een selectie citizen science initiatieven en de vraag hoe credibiliteit, relevantie en legitimiteit daarbij meespelen. Jiska Gysels bracht cases uit haar werk met Endeavour die verder gaan dan de klassieke participatiemethodes. Michiel Van Balen ging dieper in op de juridische kant van participatie, mede-eigenaarschap, en zelfs op het wegvallen van gemeenschappen in onze maatschappij. Mathias De Winter probeerde ons in 100 (!) slides allemaal een beetje designer te maken en kreeg de zaal stil met een persoonlijk verhaal en hoe Jeronimo voor mobiliteit zorgt voor kinderen met een beperking. karl catteeuw schetste hoe dorpen anders functioneren dan steden. Lior Steinberg wil zo snel mogelijk af van de gele stickies bij participatie, en liet ons in zijn talk de Burchtstraat op een andere manier inrichten. Eva Van Eenoo focuste tot slot op de onzichtbaarheid van bepaalde doelgroepen binnen mobiliteitsonderzoek, en hoe dit tot uitsluiting kan leiden. Een voormiddag vol nieuwe inzichten die in goede banen werd geleid door Els Van den broeck & collega Wouter. Voor sommigen ook een bijzondere ontmoeting in een gemoedelijke sfeer waarin iedereen mee kon nadenken. Dank aan iedereen die meevierde!
