Lemaire is a software engineer turned entrepreneur. Before SimpleBackups, he founded several ventures including an e-tourism platform powering travel search engines and a real-estech startup. He co-founded SimpleBackups in 2018 with Islam Essam.
As CEO, Lemaire runs strategy, product direction, and growth at SimpleBackups, which automates backups for databases, servers, cloud storage, and SaaS applications from a single dashboard.

- I asked an AI to review our onboarding. It said it was excellent. Clear, well structured, thoughtfully designed. Thought I was lead designer at Apple for a second. So we asked Lisa Heiss and Anastasia Kudrow to try it cold. Empty dashboard on first login. Unnecessary clicks to reach the "Aha" moment. Too many buttons. A schedule field with nothing in it. A storage you first have to enable ... To be fair, AI helped us implement the changes a lot quicker, and we've gotten really good at working with it on the engineering side.
- We ran a bunch of tests on this. Took the questions people actually ask about their backups, counted how many clicks each one takes in our dashboard, then asked our MCP server the same thing. Depending on the question it's somewhere between 5 and 15+ clicks. Asking is one question, every time. And if you're like me and you use Wispr Flow, you're not even typing it. You just say it out loud. Not to say it replaces the UI. Of course you still want a clean interface that makes sense, and that's what we spend a lot of our time on. But
- We just got listed in Linear's compliance and security integrations. 🎉 Linear became the category leader for a reason. For a lot of startups and product teams, it's not just a task tracker anymore, it's where the business-critical data lives: specs, decisions, customer context. Once you're audited for data security, all of that matters. "Linear has backups" isn't good enough, you need your own, restorable, encrypted, stored where you control it. We use it ourselves.
