Overview
Lorrez founded PegusApps in 2012, a company of about twenty staff that developed custom software with a focus on internet of things and artificial intelligence applications for clients including Worldline, Renson, and Picanol. Toadi began as a spin-off from PegusApps, with nine PegusApps employees building the proof of concept, and Lorrez launched it together with Mike Slembrouck from Waregem.
More than 3,000 of the company's robots have been deployed. The robots' capabilities have been extended to tasks such as fertilizing, weeding, and floor sweeping. Toadi's first robot combined grass cutting with security features and photo and video functions. In 2023 the robot manufacturer Worx, which had bought three EEVE robots, announced a competing robot at CES built on RTK-GPS rather than vision-only navigation. As of March 2025 EEVE was profitable, held ambitions in humanoid robotics, and had partnered with the entrepreneur network House of Boards to secure growth capital and strategic guidance.
