Wallonia
TLDR
Wallonia is the French-speaking southern region of Belgium, with a growing technology sector centered on Liege, Namur, and Louvain-la-Neuve.
Overview
Wallonia is one of Belgium's three official regions, covering the southern part of the country. It is bordered by France to the south and west, Luxembourg and Germany to the east, and Flanders and the Brussels Capital Region to the north. The region contains five provinces: Hainaut, Namur, Liege, Luxembourg, and Walloon Brabant. Wallonia's economy has historically been anchored in heavy industry, and the region has been working to develop a technology and innovation sector built around university research, particularly at UCLouvain in Louvain-la-Neuve and the University of Liege.
